Warrior Vania

a Metroid Vania  Adventure, Role-Playing Game with Tower Defense Elements.

Warrior Vania Prologue was created during the 30 Day Game Jam period of Metroidvania Month 15 - itch.io. The entire game design started with the announcement of the theme: Alchemy.

In order to fit the Metroid Vania Genre we need to implement a Non-Linear Utility Based Progress to our Game in order to fullfill the Genre Criteria.

The First 3 Days were slowly since the idea wasn't fully formed yet.

Main Objective in Warrior Vania

We implemented the Idea of the Dark World with the Lights to Activate and called it a Day. This is the beginning and Ending of the Story. Restore the Light of Warrior Vania or Fail.

The Main Goal was clear, the Player had to activate Altars and in order to do that he needs to find and activate light pillars.

We also decided not to make the classical Plattformer Game which usually is used for Metroid Vania Games. We wanna try different ways for creating and bringing Fun Games to you Players.

Utility Based Progress

Certain Areas of Warrior Vania are blocked by Objects or Gates. You can overcome those obstacles by finding and crafting the correct Potions or get keys to unlock gates.

There always 2 Ways to get beyond obstacles. Usually there are Hidden Objects on the Map you can Find and discover to bring the Adventure Feeling this Metroid Vania Game. But there is also chances that you discover certain Areas earlier because you have good RNG and find Key Objectives on Creatures or Resources.

• Find the Key Objective  on the Map
• Find the Key Objective  at Monsters, Creatures or Barrels and Chests

The optional Theme Alchemy offers great opportunities for Role Playing Elements.

Alchemy and Crafting

We started to implement Resources and Potions. Since those System are also useable for Crafting other Items or collecting Minerals instead of Herbals we gave the Player a whole Inventory with Equipment to Collect and Craft and improve the Character.

Alchemy

The player is capable of creating Potions to Heal himself, improve his Character Stats and make Progress in the Game.

Blacksmith

The player can collect Minerals and find recipes to craft Armor and Weapons. The Best Weapons and Armor in Warrior Vania are handmade by the Player. But they also can be found on Creatures.

Fletchery

This Section is for the Tower Defense Element of Warrior Vania. The player can Craft with collected Woods and other Materials, Bows and Arrows and set them up for the Adventurer (Towers). The Player can improve the Power of the Adventurer (Tower) by crafting better Bows and Arrows.

Tower Defense

Another Objective in the Game is to Protect the Stone of Light (Actually a Honeypot) If the Player fails to defend the Stone of Light. All the restored Light the player has restored so far, will be extinguished again and the Player has to start over again.

The Player is able to defend the Castle and Stone of Light by himself or hire Adventurer in the Castle.

Not Fully Finished

30 Days but we are not finish with the Prologue fully. While you can unlock all Conditions and go from the Beginning to the End of the Game. The Maps kinda lack of Detail and Love. Also the Last 2 Maps 13 and 16 we created are not fully saturated with Enemies, but can be visited and there are also Conditions already to unlock.

There also might be some Bugs at the Tower Defense Game which we not found yet and can break the Game. We are sorry if this happens to you and apologize for it.

We are looking forward to Update the Game and increase the Map Size, amount of Recipes and improve the Maps and implement a Story to Warrior Vania which we are currently working on.
